Though not strong, the WSW winds pushed passerine migrants to extreme SE Florida. On Wednesday (5/9) in Cape Florida there were hundreds of Common Yellowthroats, Ovenbirds, Blackpolls and Northern Waterthrushes. We banded 11 Connecticut Warblers between 5/8 and 5/9 and Mourning Warblers were seen both days. There is still a westerly component in the winds so today (5/10) we had hundreds of redstarts and Black-throated Blue Warblers adding to the mix. It also seems like a huge chunk of birds left last night.
