Moderate migration last night

While not a heavy migration, birds were apparently on the move across the southeast last night. The Key West radar is still down, so it’s impossible to tell if there was much crossing the Florida straits, but N–>S movement was apparent on all Florida radars, including Miami. Here’s the radar from sunset last night through sunrise this morning.

Frames are every 1/2 hour for reflectivity and velocity, and every hour for the regional composite. Click on the thumbnail to view the full-sized animation. Click on the thumbnail to view the full-sized animation.

Good Birding! 🙂

  1. I live in the Orlando area. My local park was a bit more active on Thursday. Mostly common warblers and vireos but I did have one female Blue-winged Warbler. I heard Mead Garden in Winter Park was also a bit more active yesterday, but still relatively slow.
