Nuttin’ Honey

What a quiet night over Florida! Due to the lack of migration I’m only posting the composite image… but believe me, it says a thousand words! Here’s the radar from sunset last night through 5:30am.

Frames are every 1/2 hour for reflectivity and velocity, and every hour for the regional composite. Click on the thumbnail to view the full-sized animation.

Composite base reflectivity for the Southeastern USA

Northwest winds over most of the region clearly dissuaded any migrant-ready birds from taking to the sky. This radar loop is a good example of what ‘no migration’ looks like; showing the general northwesterly flow and a few bands of precipitation moving in the same direction as the wind. Don’t go holding your breath just yet, but things are looking brighter over the weekend… until then, enjoy the mild temperatures and find all those birds that arrived last week!

Good Birding
