This Tuesday we got home and checked the birdboard to see what was happening. We immediately saw a post that read 2 Western Spindalis 7/28 Everglades NP/Long Pine Key, awesome! Not one but two Spindalis, and in our home county even better. Thanks to Matthew York and Heidi Trudell for alerting local birders. Pictures have been taken of both Spindalis. Just a couple of weeks ago our friends Roberto “Toe” Torres and Trey Mitchell observed a Tropical Kingbird about five miles away from where two TRKI spent the winter. It could be a different Kingbird or one of the two that were discovered earlier in the year.

We will be at Long Pine Key as soon as we can, hopefully the birds stick around for us.
