  1. Today, 9/17, I did a quick check on Matheson. The service road had the typical Ovenbirds on the way down. A few birds could be heard along the west edge of the hammock, but not many seen. On the way back up the service road I had a Swainson’s Warbler find me. It flew in from the right side and landed on the edge of the road right in front of me, then flew into the hammock to the left before I could get the camera up. Swainson’s Warblers always seem to find me, not the other way around. The east side had only a few birds, mostly near the Fairchild parking. I had 11 warbler species total in very low numbers.

    Parula
    Yellow-throated
    Black-and-White (3)
    Black-throated Blue
    Worm-eating
    Prairie (3)
    Redstart (3)
    Swainson’s
    Ovenbird (10)
    N. Waterthrush (2)
    Common Yellowthroat (2)

    Toe “The Whiner” Torres… OUT!
