A Quick Peek Into The Future – Badbirdz CAST

Lower Level Winds - click for a full size image

A low level ridge is place over the western Atlantic causing a wind gradient to tighten and as a result the strong low level east flow will persist. Expect E to SE winds ahead of the frontal boundary which is currently centered over the TX/OK border. As this vigorous low moves east it will begin to displace the ridge responsible for the strong east flow. This will open the door for the accompanying cold front associated with the front to make its way south. If this all plays out, we may see a SW flow by Sunday which would be great for east coast birders along FL. We will wait and see what plays out and keep you all updated. Birds are headed our way it’s just a matter of time.

  1. Evidently there was some migration last night. Had a good number of Palm Warblers (a minimum of 50 by my count where there are usually a few encountered per trip all winter) at my inland local patch. Haven’t been able to get out there in a while so they could have been hanging around for a bit but I’m guessing they are pretty recent arrivals. Also singing Blue-headed Vireo and Hermit Thrush.
